Cast with coral-stained slip followed by white slip. The outer coral slip was carved away in a floral pattern to reveal the white slip underneath. Finished with clear glaze inside and out then hand painted with mother of pearl luster.

CLEANING + USE:

• Fill with approximately 1/4c of water before use. A straw-like piece extends from the base of the bowl down into the water in the interior chamber. This allows smoke to pass through the water, cooling it before reaching the mouthpiece.

• This piece is made using mother of pearl and/or 22k gold luster that has been fired onto the piece in the kiln. Luster is an overglaze that creates a beautiful but more delicate finish than glaze alone. Please take extra care while cleaning this piece by avoiding the use of abrasives on areas with luster. Do not submerge this bubbler in alcohol for long periods of time. Instead, follow the instructions in this cleaning tutorial to keep this piece looking new forever.

But what is a bubbler?

A bubbler is similar to a bong. Both bubblers and bongs use water filtration to cool the smoke before it reaches the mouthpiece, making for a smooth hit. A bong has a removable bowl/slide while a bubbler’s bowl is fixed, similar to a hand pipe.
